Newham College are working closely with Construction Skills People to help construction businesses by upskilling their staff. Stanmore Plastering Ltd and Mostrim Groundworks Ltd are two businesses that took full advantage of this opportunity.
Admin Administrator for Stanmore, Sarah O’Shea, was impressed with how beneficial the Skills Support for the Workforce programme has been for the business.
“With the funding offered via Newham College ESF Skills Support & Construction Skills People, Stanmore has been able to upskill its workforce.”
“The main contractors we work for have set standards for CSCS/CPCS Cards for operatives. To continue our strong relationships with these clients, the ESF Funding used has been very beneficial.”
“The funding so far has allowed us to qualify a segment of our operatives. I have even recieved emails of thanks from some of the NVQ delegates themselves.”
A Mostrim employee told us: “Construction Skills People Assessors are compliant and easy to get along with, bringing a feeling of comfortableness when interacting with the delegates.”
With the backing of Skills Support for the Workforce, Stanmore and Mostrim were both able to upgrade their operatives CSCS cards from Green (Labour) to Blue (Skilled). This allowed Stanmore to continue their stronghold within the construction industry as one of the largest dry lining contractors, while it cleared the way for Mostrim to apply for CHAS accreditation and branch into new areas.
