Westminster Kingsway College are working with the Springdene Care Home Group in north London to provide essential workplace skills for approximately thirty of their staff. These are one-day courses delivered in one of the Residents’ Activity Rooms at the Care Home which converts to an excellent staff training room. The tailored package of workplace skills was designed in conjunction with the employer and has included Health and Safety in May, and Emergency First Aid in June. Food Safety in Catering is scheduled for July – these are all essential courses which will satisfy the requirements of the Care Quality Commission and maintain the Home’s high standard of quality care.
Marlyn Belgrave, one of the Care Home Managers – commented after the Health and Safety training, “these courses have enabled staff to be more confident in promoting a safer environment to our clients, staff and visitors, and will ensure that we all comply with the Health & Safety policy of the home as required by law”.
The Springdene Care Home Group is keen to explore additional opportunities and continue to work with Westminster Kingsway College to deliver more in-depth first aid courses and functional skills in the autumn across all four of their care homes.
