Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College have forged strong links with local nurseries and have been offering a package of units suitable for nursery employees. Among these are Busy Bees Nursery, where a group of twelve staff members are undertaking qualification units in Level 2 Workskills for Working in a Team, Level 1 Workskills Developing Personal Skills for Leadership, and Entry Level Self-Management Skills.
The manager and owner of the nursery, Armine Guzelian, was enthusiastic about the Skills Support for the Workforce programme and was keen to support her staff’s professional development through it.
After an initial meeting to discuss Busy Bees Nursery’s training needs, the college worked closely with Armine to ensure that relevant courses were found for each member of staff. The courses have been very successful.
“My staff cannot recommend the training organisation and our wonderful facilitator, Sharon Watkins enough. We were given interactive and specifically targeted training which ensured that all our staff could participate fully and meet their learning aims”. Said Armine.
Armine was also impressed with the attention given to each individual.
“The tutor planned her sessions effectively taking into account a range of facilitation methods to engage the entire team’s preferred learning styles”.
The training through the Skills Support for the Workforce programme “has impacted greatly on our quality control measures and helped us to review of some of our exisiting policies and procedures”, Armine said, adding that she “looks forward to building on this partnership and on our professional development sessions with Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College’s guidance and support”.
